This is very hard to believe but I called Audi Customer Relations and after about 7 days of back and forth between Audi and the dealership, Audi called me back and told me as a gesture of goodwill they would pay for repairs. They paid for the Transmission Control Module and the labor but required me to pay $100 for oil and gaskets. Unbelievable!

I have changed all new glow plugs, new battery, both new Coolant Fans with control units and new Glow Plug relay (Glow Plug Control Unit). When I changed new Glow plug relay, I got following faults and I had to change the old relay back. Faults with new glow plug relay. 3 Faults Found: 1. 14555 - No Communication with Glow Plug Control Module

So another bit of digging and I came across a VCDS Basic Settings procedure to test output of the Actuator by doing the following: Ensure engine is running and up to operating temperature. Open VCDS and sync your cable etc. OpenEngine 01 > Basic Settings 03 >. Enter 33 in the Block then press Go.

Many chain store will prescribe the same glow plug for vehicles from 1996 to 2006 and it ain't so. Your car has glow plugs that work at a different voltage than the pre-2004 cars and are also software update dependent. You will have to know which software is in your engine computer to get it right.
Make sure the boxes are unplugged (not just the sensors) and clean and tape them up. Check fuse #36 (I think) under hood should be 15a and replace if need be. You can go as far as to unplug the emissions BUS from the PCM this should make the whole wiring loom dead. Side note, this has worked for many from what I have read.
The code P0671 tells you that something in the glow plug circuit is faulty causing the glow plug on cylinder #1 to fail to heat up. The entire circuit must be checked to locate the fault.
