Aug 11, 2015. #1. Hi all, I have a 2004 Fiat Ducato Motorhome fitted with the 2.8 common rail Diesel engine, that seems to have developed a clutch problem/slip. When changing up a gear and accelerating the clutch slips between approx 2500-3200 RPM (I presume this is when maximum torque is produced??).
11 posts · Joined 2008. #13 · Aug 12, 2009. It's fairly common for 5th gear end nut to come slack on the input shaft and cause selector problems especially between 4th and 5th. You only need to take the end plate off the gearbox to check so not a big job to do. Check that first as it may just need tightening.
What do people think about the manual gearbox? I have come across one but it doesn't seem to shift into the gears properly. Clutch seems to work. But i can only put into 1st gear or neutral. Is this a linkage problem, hydraulic problem or is the gearbox itself broken? Don't have much expeirence with the FIAT manual gearbox for the x244 models.

Jul 28, 2014. #3. Mine is a 3.0 ltr so not the same. I had to remove the air filter housing and then you could see and reach the fill plug its about 2/3rds up the gear box and I think from memory its a hex socket also. Its a fill hole not a fill/level so only put in the correct amount as stated in the handbook. I think on mine it was 2.9 ltrs.

Aug 26, 2013. #2. the 2.8d or the 2.8td gearbox are the same, although there are 7 different type of gearbox in each cc, the 1.9, 2.5, 2.8 etc, the jtd clutch type is different as well one is pull type (Jtd) and one is push type (IDTD), petrol and diesel are different gearing as well, so you cant use a p [etrol on a diesel.
Changed oil today handbook for Fiat Ducato x290 130 multijet says capacity 5.9l. Warmed up engine drained oil removed filler cap and filter left to drain for 2 hours. Replaced sump plug fitted new filter and filled with 5l of oil. Started engine and left ticking over for 15 mins to circulate oil, switched off and left for 2 hours to settle.

I could not find my 1/2 drive deep sockets.While trying diffrent sockets I noticed that there was plastic breather alongside the switch.I removed the top cap by lifting upwards.
