The Inov-8 RocLite 315 is a bridge between the toothy, aggressive X-Talon and Mudclaw models on one side and the lightweight, low-slung Trailtalon and Trailroc on the other. Joining the RocLite 315 are the RocLite 305 and RocLite 290, with lower numbers indicating lighter-weight version of the same basic model.

The X-Claw has an 8mm drop (compared to the Mudclaw’s 6mm) with a midsole that is said to give better shock absorption and energy return. A significant feature is that the X-Claw 275 comes in “Standard” fit whereas the X-Talon and Mudclaw are both “Precision” fit. This means that the shoe is wider in the toe box.

I had run the latter half of Lakeland in the Terraclaw, but their grip on soft ground and wet rock I have found somewhat lacking. What I wanted was Terraclaw comfort with Mudclaw grip
