Unlatch the top on the inside and push it back a little. Then get out the car and lift the rear of the top where it meets the compartment lid. Open the roof storage compartment lid, the latch is inside the car behind the drivers seat. Fold the top into the compartment and close the lid. Make sure it latches.
Roof won't work Hi Trust me, it will not be the fuse.(I've still not found it) As some have said it may be the motor. I live in Australia. A 6 hour drive to a BMW dealership. Try this if you haven't all ready. Read your manual, and open and close the roof manually. Sometimes the senors and the computer get all confused and this resets everything.

I know this post is as old as sin but, I have a 2003 2.5 and i just coded it to lower and raise the *soft* top via the key fob. all power top z4s have the option. it just needs to be activated. you can also set it to raise and lower while driving up to 28km/h or 18.64 mph.
Last sunday I started to have a problem with the roof of my E93 LCI, and today, sunday too, I tried to fix it, but i could not. It started when roof could not be closed. Trunk open, but nothing more happened. Window went down with out problem. I stopped the car, switched it off, switch on again and roof worked, it closed. r5le.
